ACCELOPS AND SPIRE SECURITY RESEARCH TO HOST WEBINAR ON THE FUTURE OF SIM AND LOG MANAGEMENT- BECOMING A PART OF THE MAINSTREAM, IT OPERATIONS AND SERVICE DELIVERY
An Informative Webinar hosted by SANS.org that Examines Security, Network and Service Management Convergence
SANTA CLARA, CALIF – August 18, 2009 – AccelOps, IT service management innovator, and security research firm Spire Security will present a webinar focused on "the future of SIM and log management" as applied to security operation centers (SOC), network operation centers (NOC) and IT service management convergence. Hosted by the SANS Institute, the online seminar will examine security and network operational convergence, the opportunity for the infosec professional, and the state of security information management and logging technology to manage business risks and enhance service reliability.
Companies are optimizing IT responsiveness and infrastructure oversight to improve service reliability, gain efficiency and manage business risks. In the past, NOC's were focused on infrastructure piping, integrity and performance while SOC's directed their attention to protection, prevention and detection. Enterprises seek to gain efficiency and increase service levels by converging the SOC and NOC organization and leveraging shared procedures, monitoring controls, workflows and reporting instrumentation. How will this convergence affect the security practitioner and are current log management and SIEM technologies up to task?
Join speakers Pete Lindstrom, lead analyst at Spire Security and Scott Gordon, vice president at AccelOps, as they explore:
- IT service management drivers and impact on the security professional
- Current SIEM and log management approaches: what's good and what's lacking
- Means to align the security organization, metrics and controls to service management tenets
- Operational blindspots that affect service delivery, incident response, acceptable use and compliance adherence
- The value of SOC/NOC/IT service management convergence and enabling technologies
