CHICAGO STATE UNIVERSITY SELECTS ACCELOPS INTEGRATED DATA CENTER AND IT SERVICE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
SANTA CLARA, CALIF. – April 27, 2010 – AccelOps, the integrated data center and cloud service management leader, today announced that Chicago State University (CSU) has selected AccelOps’ all-in-one data center and IT service management platform. AccelOps will provide CSU’s IT staff with increased operational visibility and control, better leveraged IT resources and improved responsiveness as they upgrade the IT infrastructure, build out virtualization and centralize operations and support.
"We brought in five leading vendors to present their infrastructure monitoring platforms, and only AccelOps met CSU’s needs for comprehensiveness, usability, implementation and value," said Ce Cole Dillon, chief information officer (CIO) at CSU. "AccelOps’ integrated infrastructure monitoring approach met and exceeded our requirements, offering compelling advantages and versatility over alternatives."
CSU, Chicago’s oldest, fully accredited public university, serves more than 7,200 students and faculty. The CSU information technology department supports a central data center, as well as numerous systems distributed campus-wide and an extended learning division. The university, which had outgrown a variety of popular IT management applications and open source utilities, wanted to advance its infrastructure monitoring capabilities. CSU sought an infrastructure monitoring solution that included network analysis, systems management, virtualization management and application performance management.
AccelOps provides single pane of glass insight into the infrastructure from both a component and business service perspective. AccelOps’ data center management platform consolidated the university’s monitoring across networks, systems, applications and security. The automated discovery, auto-populating CMDB (Configuration Management Database) and built-in cross-correlation and reporting capabilities ensure the university’s effective deployment and a timely means for the IT staff to realize results.
Features of the AccelOps platform that CSU found the most effective included:
- Integration: performance, availability, security and change management applied across IT functional domains
- Visibility: full coverage via drill-through dashboards, alerting, enterprise search, automated CMDB/Inventory and topology mapping
- Out-of-the-box use: many built-in dashboards, rules and reports
- Business Service Management: ability to understand the relationships, quickly define IT services and be able to monitor by service
- Ease of deploying: implementation as a VMware virtual appliance
"Universities have a very demanding IT environment, and the leadership at CSU did an excellent job of defining rigorous and progressive requirements for operational oversight of their entire infrastructure," said Imin Lee, CEO of AccelOps. "Their determination that AccelOps was the top performer amongst competing firms underscores how integration and cross-correlation requirements are changing the playing field in the data center management space."
Available as Virtual Appliance or SaaS
AccelOps is generally available and offered as a virtual appliance or software as a service (SaaS) with a list price starting at $2,000 a month depending on model capacity. Users are welcome to apply for a trial evaluation through AccelOps’ Try and Buy program.
