AccelOps Positioned in Gartner 2014 Magic Quadrant for Security Information and Event Management (SIEM)
SIEM market adoption driven by need to detect threats and breaches, and compliance needs
SANTA CLARA, Calif. – July 9, 2014 – AccelOps, the leading IT operations analytics platform for the modern data center, has been positioned in Gartner’s 2014 Magic Quadrant for Security Information and Event Management (SIEM).*
“Broad adoption of SIEM technology is being driven by the need to detect threats and breaches, as well as compliance needs,” said the report by Gartner analysts Kelly Kavanagh, Mark Nicolett and Oliver Rochford. “Early breach discovery requires effective user activity, data access and application activity monitoring. Vendors are improving threat intelligence and security analytics.”
AccelOps’ virtual appliance software monitors not only SIEM, but also cloud and virtualized IT infrastructures for security, performance and compliance – all on a single screen. AccelOps automatically discovers, analyzes and automates IT issues in machine and big data across organizations’ data centers and cloud resources, spanning servers, storage, networks, security, applications and users. The patented analytics engine with cross-correlation and statistical anomaly detection sends real-time alerts when deviations occur to indicate a security or performance-impacting event.
“The greatest area of unmet need is effective targeted attack and breach detection,” the report states. “Organizations are failing at early breach detection, with more than 92 percent of breaches undetected by the breached organization. The situation can be improved with stronger threat intelligence, the addition of behavior profiling and better analytics.”
“Cross-correlation and real-time analytics are key for IT operations and security intelligence,” said Flint Brenton, AccelOps president and CEO. “AccelOps’ powerful capabilities in discovery, analysis and automation allow our customers to be proactive and responsive to threats, quickly drilling down to root cases and remediation.”
During 2013, the SIEM market grew from $1.34 billion to approximately $1.5 billion, achieving a growth rate of about 16 percent. “Breach detection is the primary driver, and compliance remains a secondary driver,” according to Gartner.
In its latest product release, AccelOps enhanced its capabilities for IT network security, threat management and operations intelligence. “AccelOps offers so much more than traditional SIEM solutions,” Brenton said. “Customers find that our all-in-one security, performance and compliance monitoring is just what they need for today’s challenging IT needs. Most SIEM solutions weren’t built from the ground-up for cloud monitoring; AccelOps was.”
