AccelOps Performance and Availability Monitoring

Web Application Performance Metrics

AccelOps Performance and Availability Management gives you an integrated view into the health of your network, systems, applications and virtualization environments.

We monitor performance and availability metrics, application health, infrastructure resource usage, track and correlate network and application behavior, baseline metrics and detect anomalous activity.

Cross-domain Visibility

Our cross-domain monitoring approach spans server, storage, network, virtualization and applications to automatically cross-correlate metrics in real-time, freeing you from the task of gathering this information from multiple sources.

Business Service Management

We monitor the performance health of your business services in addition to individual devices and applications.

Root-cause Analysis

We automatically connect the dots, in real-time, to rapidly isolate the root cause of security and network issues. This is valuable in virtualized environments where problem root causes vary with time due to vMotion and other changes.

Continuous Learning

Our pattern-based approach to monitoring allows you to continually enrich the product with new information. This approach enables you to encapsulate your knowledge into the AccelOps solution.

Elastic Monitoring

AccelOps’ Elastic Monitoring technology allows you to scale just by adding VMs to the AccelOps cluster. From a single instance of AccelOps Performance and Availability Monitoring, you can monitor applications in traditional data centers, private cloud, public cloud and remote offices.

From virtualization to VOIP, consolidation initiatives and technology advancements can introduce new operational threats and blind spots that can impact IT service delivery. With AccelOps, teams responsible for network operations, systems, administration and applications now have a unified view of infrastructure performance and availability from a component and IT service perspective. AccelOps answers such questions as:

  • What network bottlenecks, device faults, system problems and application issues are affecting what services?
  • When and why are performance degradation and availability disruptions occurring?
  • What are the response rates of business critical applications and what are the most likely causes?
  • How are VM movement, hardware faults, patches and upgrades impacting performance and uptime?
  • Are my technology investments yielding expected results – what resources can be further optimized, either by consolidation or by adding capacity?

Comprehensive Performance and Availability Management

AccelOps offers extensive performance and availability monitoring to enable proactive management, expedite problem resolution and facilitate service-based capacity planning across network, systems and applications.

AccelOps discovers, aggregates, analyzes, records and stores key performance indicators and trends regarding:

  • Network devices such as firewalls, routers, switches, security gateways, etc.
  • Servers such as Windows and Linux
  • Virtualized and physical environments
  • Network behavior analysis and anomalous activity
  • Network quality of service
  • Network resource utilization by application, device, and group
  • System availability statistics via ping, device uptime, and uptime percentage
  • System and network performance metrics including CPU, memory, disk, interface and process count for servers and network devices
  • Interface utilization, errors and number of connections for network devices such as firewalls, routers and switches
  • Application level performance metrics for web, app servers, database and infrastructure servers such as DNS, DHCP and Exchange
  • Application response via end-user monitoring

Detailed Health Metrics for Systems, Applications, Virtualization and Networks

AccelOps monitors the performance and availability of systems, applications and virtualization environments. The health and pertinent statistic of each IT infrastructure component is presented, as well as respective SLA achievement and support of defined business services.

Web application performance metrics are maintained with trend information to readily provide real-time and historic comparisons. Trends are shown in sparkline charts with the ability to quickly investigate trendline details.

AccelOps also monitors the configuration and operational states through our integrated CMDB. We continuously monitor, trends and alert on key performance indicators regarding:

  • Availability status (uptime, ping response)
  • Uptime percentage over a period
  • Syslog event feed rate and status
  • CPU Utilization and utilization of specific applications
  • Local disk space and utilization
  • Hardware (processes, modules)
  • Installed software
  • Installed patches
  • Running applications
  • Windows services
  • Process status
  • Start-up and running configurations from network devices
  • Open ports and service changes
  • Network interface utilization and send/receive statistics
  • Network behavior analysis
  • Network quality of service (CBQoS)
  • Network interface packet error statistics

Vital Health Stats

AccelOps provides immediate insight into the operational state, including process resource consumption and health stats of business critical applications, such as:

  • App and Web Servers
  • Authentication
  • Databases
  • Directory
  • Email
  • VOIP
  • Web Gateways

End-User Monitoring with Synthetic Transactions

AccelOps provides end-user performance monitoring via synthetic user transactions, both single and sequenced, for commonly used protocols, such as HTTP, HTTPS, DNS, LDAP, SSH, SMTP, IMAP, POP, FTP, JDBX, ICMP and for generic TCP/UDP ports. This complements monitoring for Microsoft DNS, DHCP, IIS, Exchange, MS Active Directory, MS SQL, Oracle and other databases, VOIP as well as Apache, Tomcat, GlassFish and JBoss. The result provides a rich set of metrics to identify application performance and response issues tied back to monitoring business intelligent health alerts.

Intelligent Health Alerts

AccelOps contains built-in and customizable rules to detect device, application and business service health spanning multiple metrics. It can detect changes in performance, changes based on historical information or changes to expected response. Users can be alerted on incidents via console, pager, email, HTTP or XML as events occur. These rules can be fine-tuned and applied to device or application classes to streamline monitoring processes. These rules can be based on thresholds on aggregated metrics and thresholds can be static or dynamic based on statistical profiles of any metric.

The administrator can also create custom rules for performance and availability in addition to more than 45 pre-built rules. Thresholds can be easily defined or different “interesting” attributes can be matched to take care of specific conditions.

Business Service Health

With AccelOps, you can monitor the performance health of each of your business services, not just individual devices and applications issues. Leveraging built-in and customizable business service performance rules, you will be notified and can quickly examine issues from a service delivery perspective. Check out the overall health across business services within a 24-hour window and readily zoom into any issues during the time period across performance, availability, security and change management.

Comprehensive Performance Reports

AccelOps ships with a knowledgebase of more than 300 rules and 1,700 prebuilt reports encompassing various performance and availability attributes for network devices, servers, storage devices, virtual machines and applications. These reports can be easily customized within our integrated report writer, allowing the user the flexibility to aggregate, summarize and chart all  the performance details, as well as further drill through details in the report.
